1. Information We Collect
WritelyAI collects the following information when you install and use our app:
- Your Shopify store domain and access token (required to read and update your products)
- Product data including titles, descriptions, tags, and images (used solely to generate descriptions)
- App usage statistics (number of generations per month, for billing purposes)
- Brand voice settings you configure within the app
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate AI-powered product descriptions using Anthropic's Claude API
- To enforce plan usage limits and process billing through Shopify Billing API
- To save generated descriptions for your review before publishing
- To improve the app's performance and reliability
3. Data Sharing
We share your product data with the following third parties solely to provide the service:
- Anthropic — Your product data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate descriptions. Anthropic's privacy policy applies.
- Neon.tech — We store your app data in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon.tech.
- Fly.io — Our application runs on Fly.io infrastructure.
We do not sell your data to any third parties.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your app is installed. When you uninstall WritelyAI, we delete your session data. You may request complete data deletion by emailing us.
5. Customer Data
WritelyAI does not collect or process any of your customers' personal data. We only access product catalog information.
6. GDPR Compliance
We comply with Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks:
- customers/redact — We do not store customer data
- shop/redact — We delete all store data upon request
- customers/data_request — We do not store customer data
7. Security
Your Shopify access token is stored securely and encrypted. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. We never expose your access token to client-side code.
